Back again in KL for the umpteenth time! I’ve really lost track on the number of times I’ve been here for both business and leisure so coming here again really feels like returning to my second home, lol. This recent trip was a little different because we had my in-laws (who were visiting from the UK) with us and they were the main reason why we did the trip as they wanted to see the Twin Towers.
If you also have plans to visit KL soon and need some recommendations on where to stay in KL, check out my review of Le Apple Boutique Hotel KLCC (a pretty nice hotel located just opposite Suria KLCC and next to Avenue K shopping mall). However, if you’re coming to KL with a bigger group of family/friends or intending to stay more than just a few days, it will probably be more economical to book an apartment via Airbnb which offers a wide range of homes to choose from.

Bringing the folks to see the Twin Towers in person. Checked. I must say, the twins still looked amazing. 😀
The Robertson Residences @ Bukit Bintang
When I was looking for an apartment on Airbnb, I came across The Robertson Residences at Bukit Bintang. Very convenient location as we could easily walk to Chinatown/Petaling Street, Jalan Alor food street and the heart of Bukit Bintang where all the shopping action was.
The Location
Plaza Rakyat LRT Station is about a 17-min walk away from The Robertson while Hang Tuah Monorail Station is about a 8-min walk away. We didn’t make use of the public trains as it was more convenient to Grab everywhere. Cheap and hassle-free.
The Property
The Robertson Residences grounds is relatively safe as you’ll need an access card to get in/out via one side door. All visitors will have to register at the security guard post at the main entrance area before being allowed entry too. When we booked Grab during our stay, we told the drivers to pick us up or drop us off outside the main entrance so as to save the hassle of going through security. But it was also because I would always pop into this grocer next door to grab fresh coconuts whenever we came back from somewhere, lol. Too cheap and refreshing to miss! Besides the grocer, there were also cafes, mamak stalls, 7-11 around. Super convenient.
Nice to chill by the pool too. The pool was never crowded whenever we came by.
Our apartment unit was located at the South Tower so to get to the North Tower, we could go via Level 6 where the swimming pool was or via the North Tower lift lobby on ground floor. Take the lift to 42th floor where the sky/rooftop garden is and you can catch a stunning night view of the city with the Petronas Twin Towers in the background.
Or you can have a dip in the jacuzzi pool and admire KL Tower in the distance too, lol.
The Apartment Unit
Living room space wasn’t huge. But glad that it wasn’t overly cluttered with too much frills or furniture too. Wifi connection was fast and stable.
Sofa can be turned into a bed if required.
Lots of movie channels to pick from (both English and Chinese) if you prefer to be a couch potato and chill at home.
The dining area where we spent most time chit-chatting and eating (non-stop), lol.
Well-equipped kitchen with cooking facilities, kettle, toaster, cutlery & utensils, fridge with freezer and microwave.
The door in the kitchen led out to the service balcony where there was a washing machine. Laundry powder was provided too.
This bedroom was slightly bigger than the other one and came with a cupboard near the door area. Iron/ironing board and hair dryer were also placed in the cupboard.
We were located on the 40th floor and we could get a pretty good view of the surroundings.
Inexpensive accommodation worth considering
We had a wonderful stay at this apartment that was well-maintained and clean. Definitely a bonus to be on a high floor. In the mornings when we woke up, the full length windows invited daylight into the bedrooms and opened them to lovely views. Gorgeous.
And of course I would say the location was the best too. We could get to where we wanted to go easily on foot or via Grab. It was near to the heart of the city but still away from all that hustle and bustle!! Seriously, you wouldn’t want to stay right in the middle of mayhem, surrounded by honking cars, super-slow traffic, human jams, loud music or noises, annoying touts and more.
My only gripe about our stay here was that we were only given one access card even though there were 4 of us. That made things a little troublesome when we had to part ways. For example when my hubby had to meet his client, I had to go downstairs with him just to open the side door for him and had to do the same when he came back because I needed to hold on to the card to enter/exit the building with my in-laws. It was just this one time of hassle as most of the time we travelled in one group so it wasn’t really such a big deal.
Anyway if you do stay here, do check out that grocer next door that sells the freshest coconuts – sweet coconut water and soft, tender coconut flesh. Yum!
