The first time I came across the term cashback was when I was in the UK because the husband frequently made use of top UK cashback sites to make his online purchases and literally earn cash back with every transaction. When we returned to Singapore, he was quite gutted that there wasn’t a similar site here that could allow him to do the same because he shopped online quite a lot then.
This cashback concept is still relatively new in this part of the world. But the good news is, we now have ShopBack that pays us to shop online, woohoo! 🙂
At ShopBack, we can find coupon codes for different retailers and also receive cash rebates for every online transaction we make via the ShopBack website.
First, we would have to create a ShopBack account (it’s free!). Then we can browse through their store directory that currently has a plethora of merchants across various categories.
Once we have selected a merchant, click on it to be redirected to the retailer’s online website where we can make our purchases like how we normally would. After payment is made, our cashback will be credited to our ShopBack account within a stipulated period of time which we can then cash out to our Paypal or bank account.
For instance, we can now get a RedMart coupon code to enjoy a 10% discount off our first order (with min. spend of S$30). If we click on the ‘Shop Now’ button and make our purchase via the link that redirects us to the RedMart website, we can enjoy another 9% cashback that comes back to us in the form of cash which we can then withdraw it once the total cashback amount in our ShopBack account hits S$10.
Check out this video so you can have a better idea of what this is all about:
ShopBack is just like one of many popular cashback websites in the UK and US. It channels traffic to their merchants who will reward them with commission and they will pass on a portion of that reward to consumers like us. Just so you get the idea. 🙂
One thing we have to note about such cashback site is that it is NOT a platform for us to make money. It is merely for us to enjoy rebates and greater savings for making our usual online purchases. Get the most bang for your buck and save $$$. Who doesn’t want that? 😉
The list of merchants on ShopBack to date includes hot favourites like Taobao, Groupon, Expedia, Hotels.com, ASOS, Forever 21, Zalora, eBay and many more.
For the domestic goddesses, besides RedMart, you should also check out their NTUC Fairprice promotions with up to S$15 cashback which is quite a substantial amount of savings for doing your usual grocery shopping!
And on those days when you peeps do not feel like cooking and would rather have food delivered to your door step, there are foodpanda voucher codes to make use of and also not forgetting the extra bonus of up to 15% cashback. Sweet.
Last but not least, we all know the festive season for feasting and gifting is just round the corner, woohoo! So all you shoppers out there, don’t miss out on deals during this Christmas sales season! 🙂
Overall, I think ShopBack is a breeze to use plus the service is free. If you always shop online, you should really consider this cashback system which will ultimately save you lots in the long run. What’s there to lose, really. Start shopping and saving now, folks! 😉
