Update: This cafe has ceased operations.
I hate rainy weather but it makes me smile when I catch sight of a rainbow after the rain. Similarly, the cafe name ‘Rainbow Cottage’ really appeals to me because it sounds so cheery.
The girlfriend and I decided to head to this small and cosy cafe for a dessert date because we had heard so much about their Rainbow Cakes.
An array of striking-coloured ice creams with interesting flavours like Cotton Candy Bubblegum, Thai Milk Tea and Passion Fruit Raspberry π
And of course not forgetting their signature Rainbow Cake, Paddle Pop Cheesecake and a selection of other delectable treats too.
I took this picture just to show to the husband that I wanted to buy similar style of furniture and decorative flowers (love purple!), lol. But the thing is, do we have (anymore) space? Haha!
Anyway, that was the corner at the back to get ice water and cutleries.
Let’s take a look at the menus:
Besides desserts, they also served a small selection of hot dishes but nothing caught our fancy because everything seemed like ‘fast or processed food’ so we totally gave that a miss.
We ordered a slice of the Paddle Pop Cheesecake (S$7.50) to share. We loved the bold and bright colours; it was so pretty that we couldn’t bear to destroy it with our forks.
The bottom layer was like a cookie crust. The cheesecake portion wasn’t very cheesy and it wasn’t too sweet either. Would really prefer a stronger cheese flavour though. Texture wise, it was quite dense like eating an otah kueh. It was a pity that the different colours all tasted the same. I was expecting to taste yam for the purple, pandan for the green, lemon for the yellow, etc. Overall, this wasn’t too bad but definitely not the best too. I’d still prefer the Rainbow Cheesecake from Shrove Tuesday.
We also ordered a scoop of ice cream each.
GF had the Sea Salt Caramel (S$3.50 per scoop) which was equally salty and sweet. Rich in flavour. Recommended.
I had the Strawberry Cheesecake (S$3.50 per scoop) which tasted more like strawberry than cheese. I liked that it wasn’t very sweet and that there were cookie crumbs in it to give that extra bite. It was quite light and refreshing on the palates and I wouldn’t mind coming back for this again. Perhaps pair it with a waffle next time.
Prices on menu are already inclusive of GST. There is no service charge. π

Beautiful and colourful cakes. The furniture is pretty, too. π
Sounds like a wonderful little dessert place! π
