Two weeks ago, I accompanied W to Tan Tock Seng Hospital and I came across this pretty-looking Green Tea Puff (S$2.90 each) while buying snacks at Polar Puffs & Cakes. Had to buy two home to try. 🙂
When I cut into the puff, I was really delighted to see how thin the choux pastry was and the inside was just filled to the brim. After I took a bite of the puff, I was really wowed by that ultra smooth and creamy custard that was redolent of real matcha, not something artificial. The matcha fragrance really stood out but not in an overwhelming (or bitter) way. The custard wasn’t overly sweet and hence didn’t taste heavy or cloying. The choux pastry was light and airy which was another plus point. Even the pretty sugared flower tasted quite good too.
I couldn’t find the Green Tea Puff in other Polar outlets so I dropped them an enquiry to check if they were still selling it. They responded and said that the Green Tea Puff was only available at their outlet at Tan Tock Seng Hospital while stocks last so it wouldn’t be there permanently.
Anyway, if you’re a big fan of choux buns, do drop by Polar @ TTSH and grab this puff to try. Totally worth the trip and calories! 😉
