Our Taiwan trip has come to an end.? Thank you so much for sticking with me and following my journey for the past few weeks. We’re going to spend some time in Singapore before heading off to our next adventure – the gorgeous Indonesian island of Bali for some well-deserved beach relaxation! Keep following us for more posts about food and travel to fulfil your cravings for both food and wanderlust. 🙂
Plaza Premium Lounge Taoyuan
Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) Terminal 1 Departure Hall has two Plaza Premium Lounges on the 4th floor – one in Zone C (which we visited) and the other in Zone D. Both lounges are popular choices for travellers looking to relax before their flight. Operated by the Plaza Premium Group, these lounges provide a range of amenities and services to ensure a comfortable experience for passengers.
These include comfortable seating, complimentary Wi-Fi, international TV channels, newspapers and magazines, and a selection of hot and cold food and beverages.
Update (March 2023): The Plaza Premium Lounge at Zone C is currently closed until further notice. However, the Plaza Premium Lounge at Zone D, located on the same level, is still open and available for passengers to use.
Getting There
Once you’ve passed through the Departure Gate, simply turn left or right and take the escalator up to the 4th floor where you’ll find both Plaza Premium Lounges located in their respective zones.
Lounge Access
Passengers of all airlines can access the Plaza Premium Lounge, regardless of their travel class or frequent flyer status. They can buy access directly at the lounge or book it in advance online. Access to the lounge is also possible through various programmes that provide lounge access, such as Priority Pass or LoungeKey.
Food & Beverage
This airport lounge is one of the best I’ve visited in terms of the variety and quality of food. They offer a good selection of delicious dining options, including dishes made to order, with a particular focus on local Taiwanese cuisine.
Regarding drinks, there are plenty of choices available, such as coffee, tea, soft drinks, juices, Taiwan beer, and house wines.
I’m not sure if it was because I came into the lounge without any expectations or if I was just really hungry, but the fried rice, fried cuttlefish balls, and braised cabbage that I tried tasted surprisingly good. In fact, we even went back for seconds, haha.
As for the made-to-order dishes that you can order from the counter, the chef prepares them on the spot, and they include Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup, Taiwanese Chicken Rice, Vegetarian Udon Soup, and Porcini & Mushroom Cream Soup. While they may not be the most exceptional dishes, they still tasted quite good, especially the beef noodle soup, which was very comforting to eat.
Conclusion
Overall, we enjoyed a pleasant and relaxing time in Plaza Premium Lounge Taoyuan before our flight back to Singapore. The environment is clean, spacious, and well-lit, and there were not too many people around, which made it peaceful and quiet enough to get some work done. The food and drinks exceeded our expectations and were of good quality.
If you have complimentary lounge access, it’s definitely worth coming to the airport early to spend some time in this lounge. However, if you have to pay NT$1500 (approximately USD49/SGD66) for a 2-hour visit, it may not be worth it as everything is pretty standard, and there’s nothing extraordinary to impress you.
