Earlier I had shared my Sweet & Spicy Crab Stick Salad Recipe. And this was what I had done with the main bulk of the crab sticks I bought. The version that I sampled from outside was actually deep fried in oil and they felt really greasy to the touch so I tried making mine a little more healthy by baking them in the oven instead. Surprisingly, they came out light, crispy and really crunchy. Since the crab sticks were already quite salty on their own with added flavourings and most likely MSG too, there wasn’t any need for other seasonings. The only issue I had with making this was that I had to bake them in several batches because in order for them to crisp up in the oven, you would have to arrange them on the baking tray in a single layer without any overlapping. But it was all worth it because they made really great snacks and were so much cheaper than buying the ready made ones. Best of all, these were greaseless and probably a little more guilt-free 🙂

Enjoy! 🙂
How come the frozen crab meat I bought from supermarket doesnt roll open. I microwave 30 sec to make it soft. But still won’t able to roll is open. It just stick together and breaks apart. Do I have to bowling it for a while in water to make it soft?
The ones I got were frozen ones too and I didn’t have any problem rolling them apart. Just need to thaw them properly and the layers should easily come off. No need to microwave or boil beforehand – that will make the crab sticks too soft to handle.
Is oil needed for this recipe?
Nope
