I love Nando’s not because their flame-grilled chicken is out of this world but because their peri-peri sauces are just amazing. They are robust in flavour, spicy, tangy, piquant and sweet – everything that’s needed to make a piece of chicken tasty. When I was at Mustafa Centre the other day looking out for interesting buys, I spotted these Nando’s sauces on sale and just had to grab a few of my favourite flavours to go. To my surprise, these sauces are actually not that high in calories as compared to other brands of similar sauces or dressings. They also contain no artificial preservatives, no artificial colours/flavours, no MSG, are halal and are suitable for vegetarians too.
I decided to do a simple oven-baked chicken with just olive oil and sea salt and serve it with cauliflower mash and steamed broccoli with the sauce drizzled on the side. It turned out really yum!
Homemade Nando’s PERi-PERi Chicken Recipe
Ingredients (serves 2)
2 whole chicken legs with skin-on
1/2 tsp sea salt
1 tsp olive oil
your preferred Nando’s PERi-PERi sauce
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 180 deg C at Grill with fan. Line a baking tray with aluminium foil and lightly grease with cooking spray.
2. Transfer the chicken legs onto the baking tray. Drizzle olive oil over the chicken and season with salt.
3. Insert the baking tray into the highest shelf of the oven and bake the chicken for about 20-25 minutes till the skin turns golden brown and crispy.
4. Serve the chicken with cauliflower mash and steamed broccoli or with sides of your choice and drizzle the PERi-PERi sauce along the sides.
And tuck in while the chicken’s hot and crispy! 🙂 Bon appetit!
oh! Nando’s , how much I miss it. They shut down the restaurant here in kuwait -_-
That’s a shame 🙁 Hope they will reopen an outlet there soon or perhaps you’d be able to buy these bottled sauces and try making Nando’s chicken at home 🙂
Yea , we hope the same !
Looks super yummy! Really easy weeknight dinner dish!
Yes! Agree 😉 Really saves time for a quick dinner!
