Buffalo wings make one of the best movie night food. There’s just something about hot sauce that makes the wings so addictively delicious.
Traditionally, chicken wings are first deep-fried before being tossed in a buffalo wings sauce. However, I like mine oven-baked because it’s so much easier to do so without having to clean up a greasy mess on the stovetop.?
This time round, I’m sharing a low-carb version of keto buffalo wings which is similar to my Oven Baked Crispy Buffalo Wings Recipe except that I have replaced the plain flour coating with almond flour.
The only downside is that almond flour doesn’t crisp up as well as all-purpose flour but it still gives a nice nutty coating to the wings. And needless to say, it’s just as tasty too.?
I’m naming this recipe as Keto Buffalo Wings with coating to differentiate it from another recipe that I will share later which is without coating.
Prepare the wings ahead of time
You can prepare this dish in advance like a day before. All you need is a large ziplock bag to hold the wings and the dry mixture of almond flour and seasonings/spices. Chill that in the fridge. Once you’re ready to cook the wings, simply dip them in butter-hot sauce mixture and pop into the oven.
For the hot sauce that we will toss the chicken wings in, I highly recommend using Frank’s RedHot Original Cayenne Pepper Hot Sauce which is readily available in major supermarkets here in Singapore. It’s the best hot sauce I’ve used for buffalo wings so far. It may be a ‘hot’ sauce but it’s not spicy at all in my opinion. Perhaps my tolerance for spice is high but I’m sure this hot sauce doesn’t even burn the tongue at all.
Hot sauce is a healthy condiment!
Most importantly, it doesn’t even contain calories, fats or carbs in a single-teaspoon serving! Even if you use a lot of it, you won’t be over-consuming calories or carbs so it’s really the perfect sauce to have in every kitchen pantry.
