Besides blogging about other people’s food, I thought it would be a good idea to share some home-cooked dishes with my blog readers who might be interested to cook up some simple recipes at home. I’m no chef-material cook but I do enjoy trying out recipes from books or cooking programmes and here’s one I learnt off my mum who got the recipe from a local TV cooking show.
Steamed Salted Egg Chicken Recipe
Ingredients (serves 4-6)
1kg chicken mid-joint wings
3 salted duck eggs (raw)
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
3-4 stalks spring onion, chopped
parsley as garnish
Instructions
1. Place the chicken wings in a deep steaming dish.
2. Pour the duck eggs (yolk and white) over the wings and sprinkle with minced garlic and spring onions.
3. Steam 20 minutes over high heat till the wings are cooked through.
4. Garnish with parsley before serving.
And here you are, the finished product – Steamed Salted Egg Chicken. The soup is naturally sweetened with the essence of the chicken and the duck eggs give the dish a unique saltiness flavour that further enhances that sweetness as well. For best results, buy fresh chicken wings instead of frozen ones.
