Heroine
by Geri Tan
If only I were the pen you were holding
I would know what you were writing
On the pages of your most trusted friend
Ink tells us a story
A story that was never meant to be
As dramatic as it could be
The author of this very story
is the heroine in the eyes of many
If only I were the paper you were using
I would know when you were crying
On the layers of your most trusted friend
Tears reveal your life to me
A life that was never meant to be
As dramatic as it could be
The person who controls her destiny
is the heroine in the eyes of many
A heroine, she hopes she never will be
The role she plays, no one can foresee
To unlock the mind, you need the key
All I want is just to be me
