I love using tortillas or chapatis as pizza bases. They are thin and hence crisp up in the oven really quick. That saves a lot of time – perfect when you need a quick supper fix at night.
Normally, I prefer to make my own pizza sauce (click on the link for recipe) but on lazy days, I would just use store-bought tomato paste which works just as fine. Used to make such pizzas for lunch sometimes during secondary school days but I would use sandwich bread slices instead. You can try it too!
Hawaiian Pizza Recipe
Ingredients (makes 8 pizzas)
8 wholemeal tortilla wraps
1 can tomato paste (170g)
250g cheddar cheese, shredded
1 red pepper, seeded & sliced
1 green pepper, seeded & sliced
250g ham, roughly chopped
1 can pineapples in syrup (565g), drained & diced
1 large onion, peeled & sliced
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 180 deg C with fan.
2. Spread the tomato paste over each tortilla wrap. Arrange a bit of every ingredient (ham, pineapple, peppers & onion) over each wrap and sprinkle the cheese on top.
3. Transfer the pizzas onto a non-stick pizza crisper pan or baking tray. Bake in the middle of the oven for 10 minutes or till cheese has melted and crusts are crispy. Enjoy!
