Last year, I had reviewed Ah Seng Bak Kut Teh which one of my readers recommended me to try as I was searching for good BKTs in Singapore.
I was back here a few weeks ago to have lunch after my therapy session. Wanted to try their noodles as I had seen customers ordering it during my previous visit and they looked pretty good.
J had the BKT while I ordered Pork Rib Noodles that came with a bowl of peppery soup (same BKT broth). Just like last time, the soup was refillable and we need not even request for it because the service staff would just go around the tables very often to fill up empty bowls. Really liked that because our soup would always remain hot with fresh batches. We probably had 3-4 servings of soup each by the time we finished our meal.
The broth was definitely better than before as it was way more flavoursome this time. Really made our tummies feel so warm and fuzzy.
While the BKT tasted good, I thought the Pork Rib Noodle (S$5.50) was worth a shout-out as well.
When this was served up, I thought it looked amazing because there were so much toppings/ingredients. The pork ribs were nicely braised and were really tender. Very flavoursome as well as the braising liquid had penetrated the meat so thoroughly.
The minced meat sauce was equally delicious as it had a fragrant chilli bean paste flavour like zha jiang mian.
Loved the crispy anchovies on top which gave a nice crunch.
The noodles were cooked to perfection so they still had a firm bite and chew. They were also tossed in pork lard oil which gave more depth and flavour. If you can’t take overly greasy food, you might want to skip this dish because it’s guaranteed to make your lips all oily when you’re done.
Sinful but oh-so-delicious and satisfying. ?? ??
